How it works

  1. Choose a picture with the colors you want to explore.
  2. The tool samples pixels and groups similar colors into up to six representative swatches.
  3. Select a swatch to copy its HEX value. Check text/background pairs in the contrast checker before using them in a design.

Example & practical use

A mostly blue photograph with a small orange object may produce several blue swatches and one orange swatch. A solid-color image can produce fewer than six colors.

Try without a private file

Synthetic CC0 examples created by KitForma with no personal data. Download and select the file in the tool, or paste a text file’s contents.

Limits and help

The palette is approximate, not a complete inventory or a color-managed print reference. Transparent pixels are ignored. A photograph’s palette does not establish ownership rights.

Troubleshooting

If a small accent color is missing, crop the image around that subject and try again. Check copied HEX values in the application where they will be used.
